Hello there…
twi·drops
n. twitter backdrops
I wear many hats. I am a graphic artist, an illustrator, a web designer, domainer, hostmaster, webmaster, seo pro, promoter, PR guy, promoter, ad man and marketer. The list actually goes on and can be quite long, tiresome and boring. But I do know what I am doing.
As a graphic artist I tend to sit on a bunch of photography and graphics that I have created which never gets used. Although I don’t want to charge ridiculous amounts of money for people to use my art, I simply can not afford to give it away, either. To that end I am working on a stock photography website to show-off and sell some of my work. But as a member of thelarger internet, I do also like to give back to the larger community from which I make my living.
Because I am so encouraged with Twitter and excited about its great potential, I finally had the idea that I should share some of what I do, perhaps even some of what I do, with the twitter community. Plus, I am actually quite tired of those “cutsie” twitter themes. I am just plain seeing way too much cyan and pink. I honestly think that Twitter needs to grow up a bit and get into fashion.
As a very happy Twitterer (or Twit …LOL), and as a web designer, I started playing with how to use my Twitter profile page in order to advertise and market my services. It’s actually quite a challenge because there are so many different screen reolutions that people surf the web with, and Twitter is extremely basic and functional with very few configuration options.
I hope you will be happy with what I have found. I expect to offer lots of full screen backdrops as well as some tiling backdrops, eventually. I also plan on writing a couple of tutorials so that others can use what I have learned to thier advantage.
I registered the domain twidrops.com yesterday (14-Jul-09). I also am backing it up with twidrop.com, tweedrops.com and tweedrop.com. Whether or not I continue using those domains to redirect miscommunicated, misunderstood or lost traffic will depend on the success of this venture.
I certainly do hope that it succeeds.
In an effort to give back while not giving it up completely for free, I plan on making this a free ad-supported service. That way you will be able to use twidrops for free and if an ad interests you I can get paid a little something for my efforts through PPC (Pay-Per-Click) advertising revenue. If you want to learn more about PPC, you can check out the websites PPC Ad Income, Ad Working, or Parking PPC. You can use PPC ads to monetize your website or blog, thus allowing you to offer free advice, services and/or products.
Anyways, the whole point is that I am currently just setting up and getting ready, for now. Eventually I will be posting my own original creations… twidrops, to assist you in helping twitter grow up and get in fashion.
Please come back, and come back often for updates.
Oh, and hey… be sure to follow me at Twitter. I’m Domainating.
